Free 4 day travelcard in The Hague during MNE2015.

The Hague is sponsoring MNE2015 with a 4 day travelcard valid from 21.09.2015 – 24.09.2015. When you register yourself for MNE2015 at the registration desk in World Forum you will all get your 4 Day travelcard. This 4 Day ticket is valid at all HTM trams en HTM buses in The Hague, Scheveningen and Kijkduin.

Plane

The Hague is located between two international airports:

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol ➔ World Forum
    45 kilometers, 45 minutes by public transport
  • The Hague/Rotterdam Airport ➔ World Forum
    30 kilometers, 60 minutes by public transport

Amsterdam Schiphol Train station

Schiphol train station is situated directly below the airport. You can pick up a free baggage trolley from the platform. Via Schiphol Plaza, you can walk straight to the departure or arrival hall. Follow the signs ‘trains’.

Train

The Hague has two international and well-equipped train stations. Trains from Hollands Spoor Station leave for Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Belgium and France. Trains for Utrecht and Germany leave from The Hague Central Station. Both train stations operate a direct service to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Single-use Chipcard

You can travel on NS (the Dutch Railways) with a single-use chipcard. This single-use chipcard can be purchased at a NS ticket machine (with the blue sign and white NS logo across the top) or from the Tickets & Service desk at Schiphol which is situated close to the red/white-checked cube at Schiphol Plaza. The single-use chipcard is a paper ticket that contains a chip and is valid for use with all train operators.

Important! When you travel with a single-use chipcard you must check in and out with each train operator through the gates or posts. Checking in with NS at the departure station Schiphol can be done by holding your chipcard up against the NS card reader in one of the gates or free-standing posts. At the arrival station, hold your chipcard up against the NS card reader in one of the gates or free-standing posts to check-out.

E-train tickets

You can buy your ticket online (https://www.ns.nl/eticket/ticket?language=en) and simply print it yourself. This allows you to take care of everything whenever and wherever it suits you. All you have to do is complete the journey details and the passenger’s name, pay for the order and download and print the e-ticket. This means that you can board the train straight away! Make sure that you always have the e-ticket and valid proof of identity with the same name with you. You are required to show both when tickets are checked on the train and at stations. The date of travel shown on the e-ticket and the actual date of travel must be the same, and the same applies to the route travelled.

Only valid, when:

-A valid e-ticket is in the passenger’s name, and the ID has to bear the same name. Your e-ticket is in your name and cannot be transferred to a different person.

-An e-ticket is only valid if it is printed in A4 size. The confirmation e-mail sent to you is the receipt, and the attachment is the E-ticket. Be sure to print the attachment. Travelling on the basis of a printout of the receipt is not permitted. If you are travelling with an e-ticket then you use the square barcode on your e-ticket to open the gates. Train connection Amsterdam Schiphol Station– The Hague Central Station (Den Haag central)

Direct trains for Amsterdam Schiphol Station to Den Haag Central Station run 4 times an hour at 04, 27, 33 and 57 past the hour in the same direction and with departures and arrivals on the same station and at the same times (see below)

TRAVEL INFORMATION/GETTING AROUND IN THE HAGUE

The Hague boasts an excellent public transport. Over 30 bus and tram lines will quickly and safely take you to your destinations in The Hague and the beach area’s Scheveningen and Kijkduin. When you register yourself  for MNE2015 at the registration desk in World Forum you will all get your 4 Day travelcard  valid during the whole MNE2015 time frrom 21.09 until 24.09.2015 (this is sponsored by The Hague). This 4 Day ticket is valid at all HTM trams en HTM buses.  Please use your ticket each time you hop on/off. Your ticket is valid from first check-in on the first day to the last check out on the 4rd day. Check the HTM public transport website for more information: www.htm.nl.

Single tickets (Uurnetkaart) € 3,50

When you for the first time arrive at The Hague station you will not have your 4 Day Travelcard yet. You can always buy a ticket from the bus and tram driver or at the vending machine in RandstadRail. Buying a single ticket (Uurnetkaart) is easy but more expensive than travelling with the OV-chipkaart. A single ticket is valid with HTM transport for 60 minutes and costs € 3,50. This ticket allows you to hop-on and hop-off on all HTM buses and trams within 60 minutes.
